Dice activities are a great way to give students different options to show what they know and it requires nothing more than dice! Actually, just the one. So, a die.

This activity has three different levels.

  1. Beginning knowledge-this would be good for a group to work on together. Each student rolls a die and they look up the needed information. This could be used as a review, the information is the basic knowledge that covers where each reactions takes place, the reactants, and the products. There is also a diagram included for students to fill out.
  2. Product choice-each student rolls to determine which product they will create to show what they know. Includes products for multiple intelligences.
  3. Extension questions-designed for your advanced students that quickly master the basics of both reactions. They can roll for two questions to research to extend their learning on photosynthesis and cellular respiration and how they connect to the bigger picture.

Differentiation doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking. Sometimes it is as simple as the roll of the dice.
